I plan my content with an outline.

I create the outline first so that I have a plan of what content to fill in.

Typically when I'm looking up a topic, I would write a few notes. If it's enough, then I started coming up with a draft and working from there.

That's a good idea.

I think at least some kind of planning is a good route to go.
