Finding the right niche is one of the first and most crucial steps in starting a blog.

A well-defined niche helps you attract a specific audience and makes content creation easier.

I look for the following when choosing a niche:
  • Passion and Interest: What topics are you passionate about? Choose a niche that you are genuinely interested in, as this will make it easier to create content consistently.
  • Market Demand: Research the market to see if there is a demand for content in your chosen niche. Tools like Google Trends, Keyword Planner, and social media platforms can help you gauge interest.
  • Audience and Competition: Identify your target audience and understand their needs. Analyze your competition to see how you can differentiate your blog.

How did you choose your blog’s niche?

What challenges did you face when selecting your niche?

Do you think it's better to choose a broad or a narrow niche? Why?

Passion and interest are the reasons I started my blog, which is software/tech.

Going into this I knew there were already a lot of other blogs in this market, which is part of what inspired me. Since this is something I'm really interested in, it hasn't deterred me from moving forward with my blog. I have my own style and experiences that I use for it which might resonate with readers.

Me too.

I could never write about something that I am not interested in.
