Howdy everyone,

My name is Shawn Gossman.

I'm the founder of the Blogging Collective Community. I made this community for bloggers to be able to help other bloggers with their blogging needs.

We need a community like this. We need one aside from social media where algorithms aren't showing you what they want you to see and blocking the rest.

I'm a 39-year-old guy from southern Illinois. I have many jobs. I own a few businesses including a marketing agency and a guided hiking service. I maintain a few blogs including hikingwithshawn.com and shawngossman.com which one is about hiking and the other is about content creation and communities. I'm also the community manager of the Copyblogger Academy. I also work in the very secret clandestine industry of Casino gaming surveillance - and that's all I have to say about that! :)

I've been creating websites and blogging for around 26 years. I remember dialup and BlogSpot. I remember blogs before they were called blogs. I remember when you had to create HTML pages to make blogs. I'm glad those days are over. WordPress is so much easier!

I know a lot about blogging. I know a lot about SEO, digital marketing, content creation, and social media marketing.

I also know a lot about online communities and newsletters.

I love sharing my knowledge. That's why I blog. That's why I created this community.

I love writing, hiking, cycling, and the outdoors.

Thanks for having me!

Thank you for the great intro @Shawn Gossman ! I got to ask, how do you find time to do everything? lol When you are out in nature, do you unplug or do you find a balance with being online & doing outdoor things such as your cycling, hiking, etc.

I reserve weekends for my outdoors stuff. I take photos and videos while I'm out for content on that brand. But I still get to enjoy it all, too.

I automate things to make it easier. I schedule social media posts and YouTube videos/shorts two weeks in advance. I write a few blog posts a day and keep myself ahead of schedule.

I sleep 6 hours, and that's all I really need to be honest.
