Blog Marketing How to do a Competitive Blog Marketing Analysis

Articles about blog marketing, social media, and related.
A Competitive Blog Marketing Analysis is when you analyze your blogging competition and get a deeper understanding of how to compete with it.

Competition is always a healthy way to improve your blog. Why not compete a little, but as long as it's all in fair nature and ethical means.

Spying on the competition is something that has been done for ages.

Duplicating features with your own touch is fine, but outright copying features and benefits isn't a very good thing to do.

In this article, I'll show you how to do a Competitive Blog Marketing Analysis on your competition.

Competitive Blog Marketing Analysis Step 1: Identify Your Competition
These blogs can be direct or indirect competition. They'll be blogs covering the same niche as yours. They could also be blogs covering sub-niches of the main niche you cover on your blog. These can be small to mid-size to very large blogs. It's best to focus on blogs about as big as yours and bigger in terms of your Competitive Blog Marketing Analysis activities.

Step 2: Analyze the Blog's Assets
Analyze your competition's assets. This includes their categories and tags. It includes their most popular pages and posts. You should also focus your efforts on identifying the keywords that your competition is focusing on for their content as well.

Step 3: Analyze the Difference in Your Competition
Research all of your competition. Mark down what similarities they share amongst themselves. But you should also share the things that make them different from other blogs in their niche.

Step 4: Understand their Styles
Take a look at the style of your competitors. Find their voice and how they present it. Understand their post-types and writing formats. Research the styles they use and how effective they are for mobile.

Step 5: Learn About their Monetization Strategies
Learn about the monetization strategies of your competition. Try to understand how they are using their blogs to make money online.

Step 6: Analyze their Social Media Marketing
Research the social media presence and marketing efforts of your competition. Try to find them on every social media out there (at least the popular ones) and analyze what they're doing to be active about it.

Perform a SWOT Analysis
Perform a SWOT analysis on your competition to wrap things up. This includes strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

Take the date from your Competitive Blog Marketing Analysis and use it to better your blog.

I wonder how many people even consider this an option. Even though I'm not into blogging, this sounds like it'd be similar to how people would do forums. Checking out the competition. Seeing what's out there.
You want to stand out but you also want to stay in the niche of what a blog is about. A blog is not a forum nor is it social media. It's a completely different platform.
