I picked it based on my interests(tech, development). I'm usually writing tidbits for myself and decided that I could put it altogether and do a blog.

Choosing a niche based on your interests is the best route.

Yeah that's also one of my motivators. I learn a lot better when I try to explain what it is I learned.

And the great thing about blogging your passion is that if you fail, it's often a learning experience. You don't look at failure so negatively because it only makes you stronger and gives you content to write about, too.
