Do you think some bloggers think too much on getting rich really quick?

Were you a victim of that mindset ever?

I know better than to expect to get rich overnight. It's rare that someone's blog will blow up like that and become a money juggernaut.

I do think some people are inpatient and I can see where an inpatient person would expect things to happen that quickly.

You got to work for it.

It took me 4 years until I started making money and it wasn't very much.

About year 6 is when it started being fairly significant!

It takes as long as you have to put the work in.

Before I started self blogging, I was writing on a lot of platforms and was using adsense on third party sites. When I started blogging with self hosted site, I clearly know I was not going to make money.

I make a few hundred a week using my self-hosted blog. Like I said, you have to work for it. The benefit is your blog isn't going anywhere unless you close it. You can lose your access to those third-party platforms at any time!

That's very true. I was once writing for a site called Helium. I spend more than two years on the site and produced over 200 articles and then one day the site closed and I lost income source. Self hosted blogging gives you total control. You have to work very hard on building traffic though.

It's going to get harder and harder, too, with the advancement of AI.
